GWA is looking for people and businesses who want to become part of the story of the craft typographic workshop. Who want to ensure that the machines are maintained, that school projects are developed and that the letter collection stays in place. You can do that by becoming an ambassador. You are an ambassador if you tell the story of GWA in a special way. Do you have an idea for that story? Do you have a unique idea that ties in with the typographic craft? We always feel like thinking with you to make it happen.
Adopt a Press
With the help of all the volunteers, we built a wooden wall in 2024 using JustinCase's sustainable and modular Amsterdam building system, consisting of wooden cassettes that are relatively easy to assemble.
This has worked out very well: the presses are now dry and dust-free, but there is still a lot to be done to make the space actually workable, warm and (fire) safe. Therefore, we are looking for suitable adoptive parents, who for an amount per year, per anniversary or ‘forever’ want to connect with our beautiful place.
1 year : € 1500,00 a nameplate engraved in wood at the press, mention on the site*
2 years : € 2000,00 a nameplate at the press, mention on the site*
5 years : € 2500.00 a nameplate at the press, a company workshop**
Forever: € 5000.00 a nameplate, a company workshop, a hand-printed business card and ‘lifetime’ free tour for you and your clients
*after this period you can ‘renew’ for 500 € per year
**company workshop: max 25 people
For any kind of adoption, we will keep you informed about the ups and downs of the press, about any maintenance, and what’s in print.

Thanks to our donors, GWA is able to maintain and restore machinery, save letters from scrap and keep tradition alive. At GWA, anyone, at any level can engage in the craft. Schoolchildren, students and artists are happy that there is a place to preserve this treasure of heritage!
Sign up as a volunteer
GWA runs largely on the enthusiasm of volunteers. Therefore, we are always looking for new craft enthusiasts! Please note that before you can volunteer, you must first have taken a course in one of the techniques. After that we mainly ask for your enthusiasm – and for your time. A volunteer needs to be at least one day a week in the workshop. Work consists of a wide variety of activities: from telling the story of GWA to a lost tourist to raising wooden letters. Of course, you also have the opportunity to make your own work, or take courses. After three months there will be an evaluation in which we will see if expectations are met on both sides.
