Two lessons in typesetting, two lessons in linocut, two lessons in intaglio/dry needling, and finally three lessons in bookbinding. During the first lesson, the teacher explains more about the workshop. The history, the layout of the space and the mores. How to handle the presses, how to handle the ink? What are the limitations and what are the possibilities? How do you ensure that everything you print can later be bound into books? And: What can you do once you have completed this course?
After the nine lessons you will have basic experience in all techniques, and a book of your own work.

2 lessons in typography and typesetting: an introduction to the measuring system, the tools, and small metal type and large wooden letters under the guidance of Francesca Patella or Juliette Verberne.

2 classes in linocut/high relief printing. The basics of lino-cutting, and a multi-color print under the guidance of graphic artists Alette de Roos or Irian Schuur.

2 dry needle/etching classes. The principle of etching, but without the use of acids: dry needle etching is an illustrative technique where the material always surprises. Guided by: Marieke de Wit or Ron Gillot.

3 lessons in bookbinding: using the Japanese binding method you bind together the work you made in the other lessons. Teacher: Anna Cairoli or Karin Jansen.

Floor Stitselaar: “I thought it was a fantastic course. Especially the final product was a surprise: in such a short time I have my own book in my hands!”
